Privacy Policy

CEDI Inc. operating as the Chauvin Economic Development Digital Initiative (CEDDI) recognizes that the privacy and confidentiality of a person’s personal information is important. All personal information is managed according to The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). FOIP is provincial Act of legislation to ensure access to records and personal information and to control how information is collected, used and disclosed.

When you visit CEDDI.ca, CEDDI’s web server automatically collects a limited amount of standard information essential to the operation and evaluation of CEDDI’s website. This information includes:

  • the page from which you arrived,
  • the date and time of your page request,
  • the Internet Protocol (IP) address your computer is using to receive information,
  • the type and version of your browser, and
  • the name and size of the file you requested.

This information is not used to identify individuals who come to CEDDI’s website. This information is used only to help CEDDI assess its information services and is collected in compliance with Section 33 (c) of Alberta’s FOIP.

E-mail messages are also subject to FOIP.  If you choose to provide CEDDI with personal information in an e-mail or by filling out an electronic form and submit it to CEDDI through our website, CEDDI will use that information to respond to your message and to assist us in providing you the requested information or service.

The personal information you share with CEDDI is provided only to those required to carry out the business related to you. All e-mail messages sent or received are the property of CEDDI and may be accessed by department managers or their assignees without further consent of the author. All e-mail messages required to be retained by law will be maintained through a secure protocol

CEDDI collects, retains and uses personal information only where we believe it is essential (and allowed by law) to administer our business and to provide products, services and other opportunities requested by our users.

CEDDI does not sell or rent our users’ information to any outside company or organization. CEDDI  does not reveal specific information about users or other personally identifiable data to unaffiliated third parties for their independent use, except if required to do so by law. 

Security measures are implemented in order that web services remain available to all users. CEDDI’s computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify attempts to tamper with information, or to otherwise cause damage.

CEDDI uses electronic ‘cookies’. A cookie is a small amount of data that is transferred to your browser by a web server. It cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. A session ID, along with time and date and other information may be placed in the cookie. This information is used to provide the user with an enriched experience while using CEDDI’s website. 

Once the user leaves CEDDI’s website, the session is considered done and the cookie expires. CEDDI does not maintain profiles of users through the use of cookies and does not attempt to track individual users through the use of cookies. 

In order for a cookie to be written to your computer, cookies must be enabled by your browser. Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the option whether or not to accept it. If you decide to refuse a cookie, you may find that the website does not behave as designed. 

CEDDI’s website may contain links to other sites. CEDDI is not responsible for the content and privacy practices of other websites and CEDDI encourages you to read and review the privacy policy and disclaimer of each site before disclosing your personal information to that site.
